Frequently Asked Questions
We will do our best to answer your questions here:
? When will I be required to get CEUs (Continuing Education Units)?
We do not know when geologists will be required to get CEUs. They will not be required for the 2007 - 2009 licensing period. The 2007 - 2009 licensing period ends on September 30, 2009.
The State Licensing Board, not PCPG, is responsible for enforcing CEU requirements and developing CEU regulations. State Licensing Board Website.
The State Licensing Board expects that sometime during the 2009 - 1011 licensing period we will be required to get CEUs, but they do NOT know when.
They do NOT know if credits earned for courses taken before they are actually required will be accepted. Nothing is certain at this point.

? I heard we will have to earn PDHs not CEUs. Is that true?
That MIGHT happen at some point in the future. There is legislation in the PA General Assembly that changes the existing law. The legislation requires geologists, engineers, and land surveyors to get PDHs instead of CEUs. The passage of legislation in the General Assembly is impossible to predict. This legislation may never pass. We don't know.
Read more about this legislation and the difference between PDHs and CEUs.

? How do I renew my license?
We are NOT the State Licensing Board. You cannot renew your license here. You must go to the State Licensing Board Website.
