The
Pennsylvania Council of Professional Geologists (PCPG) and our
partners hosted a diverse water resource symposium on October
11, 2006 at the Radisson Penn Harris Hotel
in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. The
purpose of this symposium was to provide a forum for geologists,
scientists, engineers, water professionals, attorneys, regulators
and watershed groups to present their recent advances, ideas and
experiences in water related topics. This event focused on the future of water resources in
Pennsylvania and beyond.
PCPG assembled an excellent slate of speakers for this
event. Dr. Robert
Hirsch, Associate Director for Water and responsible for all
U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) water science programs, served
as our Keynote Speaker and moderated a panel comprised of
regulatory, environmental, and industry representatives. Our
panel guests included John
Hines, Director (DEP Water Planning Office); Brian
Hill, President & CEO (PA Environmental Council), and Drew Hadley (invited), Global Environmental Manager (The
Procter & Gamble Co.).
The
Symposium offered 20 presentations during five concurrent sessions
covering topics from advances in technologies, regulatory guidance
and watershed protection. Presentation themes included:
·Water

Remote Sensing Methodologies
These
are exciting times in the water resource field with advances in
science and the reformation of the State Water Plan. Water
resources are playing a prominent role in the future of Pennsylvania
from watershed protection to economic revitalization. PCPG's
2006 Water Resources Symposium was an ideal opportunity for
technical exchange and networking.
