PCPG Members Serving on Government Committees

As part of it's on-going Governmental Affairs Program, the PCPG has sponsored participation of a number of representatives of PCPG Member Firms for service on public interest and governmental Advisory Committees. Following is a summary of our representation on such Committees:

  • Burt A. Waite, P.G., Moody and Associates, Senior Geologist -- Serves on the PA Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP) Citizens Advisory Council, the only legislatively mandated environmental advisory committee in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

  • Dr. Richard E. Wright, P.G., PCPG Permanent Director – Has served on the United States Department of the Interior's National Geologic Mapping Advisory Committee .

  • Richard T. Wardrop, P.G., U.S. Filter, PCPG Director and Past-President -- Serves on the PA Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP) Water Quality Technical Advisory Committee.

  • Dr. Grover H. Emrich, P.G., Emrich & Associates, Past PCPG Director -- Serves on the PA Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP) Low-Level Radioactive Waste Commission Advisory Committee.

  • William J. Ponticello, P.G., Penn E&R -- Serves on the PA Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP) Low-Level Radioactive Waste Commission Advisory CommitteeRichard E. Wright, P.G. serves as an alternate.

  • Jan Peter Ilves, JPI Associates, Inc./ Alternate: William J. Minnick, P.G., AE2I, Inc., and PCPG Director -- Serve on the PA Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP) Underground Storage Tank Advisory Committee.

  • Richard T. Wardrop, P.G., U.S. Filter, Inc., PCPG Director and Past President -- Serves on the PA Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP) Science Advisory Board (SAB), which developed the Act 2 Land Recycling Act Cleanup Standards.

  • Dr. Grover H. Emrich, Emrich & Associates, Past PCPG Director -- Serves on the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (PA DCNR) ad hoc Mapping Advisory Committee to the Pennsylvania Bureau of Topographic and Geological Survey. The Committee assists the Survey with long-term planning and strategy development for geologic mapping projects.

  • Gary Kribbs, P.G., AEON, Inc., Director, serves on the Technical Advisory Committee for the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR).

  • Burt A. Waite, P.G., Moody and Associates, Senior Geologist -- Served on the PA Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP) Oil and Gas Technical Advisory Committee.

  • Ted Tesler, P.G. Alliance Environmental Services-- Serves as one of two Geologists on the State Board of Licensure for Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists. This is the Board which administers the professional licensing of Geologists under Act 151 of 1992.

  • Thomas Gillespie, P.G., Environmental Liability Management-- Serves as one of two Geologists on the State Board of Licensure for Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists. This is the Board which administers the professional licensing of Geologists under Act 151 of 1992.

  • H. Scott Laird, P.G., URS Corporation -- Serves as an alternate on the Water Management Advisory Committee of the Delaware River Basin Commission

Tracking the Development of Laws and Regulations

As part of its regular activities, the PCPG routinely tracks the development of new laws and regulations which have the potential to influence the practice of Geology in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Current Issues

We are currently tracking and working with the development of numerous legislative and regulatory programs.  The list of programs is constantly changing as issues arise and needs change.  Here are a few of the issues:

  • Act 220, Water Resource Planning
  • Act 2, Land Recycling
  • Laboratory Accreditation Regulations
